Jessica Varnish
Jessica Varnish was born in Bromsgrove, Worcestershire on 19 November 1990, the daughter of James "Jim" Varnish, a keen cyclist.
At the age of 14, Varnish competed unofficially at the 2006 Junior World Championships in Belgium. She took a second off the British 500m standing start record, setting a new time of 37.1 seconds.
She made her first appearance in GB kit at the Austrian Junior International in January 2006. She became a member of British Cycling's Olympic Development Programme whilst still a junior. Being just 17 at the time, Varnish was selected for the programme a year ahead of the rest of her age group, demonstrating British Cycling's belief in her potential.
Her first performance at senior level was in the 2008 UCI Track Cycling World Championships in Manchester.
In March 2009, Varnish was awarded the "junior female sports personality of the year" trophy at the Sports Partnership Herefordshire and Worcestershire Sports Awards.
Virgin Trains Pendolino 390027 was named after her on 29 June 2011.

Biography:
Brit-born pro mountain biker Niki Gudex is Australia's most recognisable and highly regarded female biker. She competes in both Downhill and Cross Country, and after only two years of professional riding won the Australian National Championships Series in both disciplines. She has raced on the Australian DH and XC National teams, and continues to perform at both national and international biking events. She finished top ten of the 2008 All Mountain World Championships in California, USA.
A remarkable sporting talent combined with stunning looks means Niki regularly features in media across the world. She has appeared on the cover of the internationally acclaimed Black & White magazine, as well as covers for both Chick and FHM. Vogue to Rolling Stone have written about Niki, as has America's high-end magazine Outside go. Readers of Inside Sport have voted her as "Australia's Sexiest Sportswoman", and she has appeared on FHM's Top 100 beautiful women in the world list for six successive years.
Niki's overwhelming respect and following in cycling circles has demanded a huge fan base and exceptional sponsor relationships. Working alongside a number of international companies, Niki is a global brand ambassador for Oakley. Graduating from the University of Wollongong with a Bachelor of Creative Arts majoring in Graphic Design and New Media, Niki was also crowned the university's 'Sportsperson Of The Year'.
